八美旅游景区 Bamei Tourist Spot
Bamei is a name that arouses people to imagine. Its name comes from Tibetan. However, the characters in Chinese give it a beautiful meaning. People have described the beauty of Bamei for many times. The snow-capped mountains, forests, grasslands, lakes, stone forests, springs, temples, wild mushroom here are all really exquisite and fancy. It seems like a lotus in full bloom, decorated on the beautiful highlands. Carefully study, we find that the eight representative attractions show the charm of Bamei, a shining pearl on the giant panda international travel line of Sichuan Province.
Lotus Buddha—Yala Snow Mountain
Yala Snow Mountain is located in the southeast of Daofu County. Across 13 km landscape of Ganerlongba valley beside S303 is the foot of Yala Snow Mountain. It is the best snow mountain in Kangba region. It is also the holy mountain that is worshiped by the surrounding people, which is known as “The Second Shambhala” and “Oriental White Yak”. The main peak of Snow Mountain has an elevation of 5820 meters, standing up the sky, and lying on the wilderness. Viewed from Bamei direction, it seems like majestic Buddha. Viewed from Tagong direction, it seems like a blooming lotus. A large virgin forest is at the foot of Snow Mountain. Under the forest is beautiful meadow, valleys and hot springs. Tea and Horse Road travels through Yala Snow Mountain.
Yala Youcuo at mountainside is quiet and blue, which is known as “Sapphire Sea”. On the lake is waterfall rushing down from glacier. The lake is surrounded by redwood forest. Caves and Mani Stones where many monks practicing around add mystery to it. There is a legend that King Gesar’s sword, armor, books on the art of war were all left in a cave, which have become the treasure of Yala. Geological Wonder—Baimei Earth and Stones Forest
Bamei Earth and Stones Forest is located beside S303 of southeastern Bamei Town. Its area is about 5 square kilometers. Overlooking the Stone Forest, they look like put-together peaks, stand-up towers, appearing different images, which seem like an elaborate miniascape. Standing among them, you have many things to see and linger on. Some are like deer looking up the sky, some are like tiger coming down the mountain, some are like monkey sleeping like a top. Stone pillars, stalagmites, stone mushroom, stone lotus, varied and vivid, are really like a fairy maze, even like the mysterious outer space.
Lotus Temple—Huiyuan Temple
Huiyuan Temple is located in Xiede Township of Daofu County. It was built in the Yongzheng Seventh Year (1729) of Qing Dynasty. It is approprited by Qing Government to build for the 7th Dalai Lama Gesang Jiacuo to avoid the Zhungeer rebellion. It covers an area of 500 mu, with three layers of the inner walls. Nine dragons and nine lions are carved before the gate of hall. There are six existent monuments of Qing Dynasty in Tibetan, Han, Man (words) language. It served as the residence of the 7th Dalai Gesang Jiacuo, which enjoys the fame of “Nine Dragons and Nine Lions” in the kingdom of Buddhism, renowned both home and aboard.
Birth Place of the 11th Dalai Lama—Jiawa Rongqun
The 11th Dalai Lama Kaizhu Jiacuo was born in the Xiede villiage nearby Huiyuan Temple. The local people call it “Jiawa Rongqun”. Jiawa Rongqun means “the little palace of Dalai”. It was built to commemorate the 11th Dalai Lama. There are big trees surrounded it. A crude boulder where six words are clearly recognized consecrated in the hall. It is dug up accidentally at the birthplace of the 11th Dalai Lama.
It is said that the mother’s family circumstances of the 11th Dalai Lama was poor. Even after pregnancy, she still needed to cut wood on the mountain. One day, she was tired and hungry. So she had a rest beside a fountain, then she fell asleep. After waking up, she found that the fountain had become delicious buttered soup. She swigged it. From then on, she did not feel hungry any more. The last day before the birth,one old man with white beard riding a white yak sent butter, roasted barley flour, milk cake, then disappeared into the Yala Snow Mountain instantly. The 11th Dalai Lama was born on the day full of rainbow. That was the 103rd year since the 7th Dalai had left. Since then, he was affirmed as the incarnated soul boy of the 10th Dalai Lama.
Gesaer Ranch—Longdeng Grassland
In Longdeng Township of Daofu County, on the both sides of Sichuan-Tibetan road, the well-known King Gesaer was camped here. Therefore, it is called “Gesaer Pond” by local prople. The ranch is as flat as a whetstone. The sceneries of different months and seasons are diverse. Zhumucuo popples beside the ranch. Gesaer ranch has many relics, such as ancient tent site, test sword stone, tea mortar, Gesaer footprint.
Rangu Villiage is a small one full of nomadism culture on Gesaer Ranch. It is tranquil, simple, primitive, which makes people forget distress. Rangu Temple has 108 pieces of Shuangxiu Buddha with different sizes. It is full of mysterious meaning of Tibetan Buddhism.
Lari Village was built in 2009. Through the efforts of Daofu County Committee and Government for one year, the open grassland has become history. Here now is row upon row of Tibetan houses. The roads, watering place and other public facilities are all put in place, which can accommodate 54 houses for herdsmen.
The house is set as bengkong wooden structure. The sloping roof is covered with tiles of colored glaze. They are equipped with double insulating glass windows. Before the Tibetan house is a spacious courtyard, which reaches the standards of modern life and abounds in ethnic characteristics of pastoral. Under the blue sky and white clouds, it looks novel and poetic on the forest grassland.
God-given Spring—Danba Pearl
The spring is formed from Red Birch drop by drop. Its water is cold in summer and warm in winter. If you drink it, you will forget all troubles. If you have a bath, it will make you healthy and longevous—the two ancient poplar, green grass and black temple can be the witness. The spring water is considered as the holy water by local people.
In 1986, the 10th Banchan drank the holy water for thirst and daily use when he passed through Daofu. In the forest nearby the holy spring, the Bamei big mushroom is much famous.
Sky-high Palace—Sangka Temple
Sangka Mountain is located in Quer Village of Bamei Township. Sangka Mountain is as elegant and solemn as pyramid. Sangka Temple of Sakya monastery is located at the top of this mountain. A feeling of mixing heaven and human together and euphoria can only be found on the Sangka Mountain.
Bamei is bordering Kangding in the south, Danba in the east, Daofu and Dege in the north. It is the tourism transit point between Sichuan province and Tibet. It is rich in tourism resources, strong national features, and outstanding characteristics of plateau. It is unique and refined in aesthetic imagery and self-content sentiment in life style, which is a rare tourist place of Kangba.
